The Dudgeon-Monroe Street Neighborhood in Madison is a desirable area known for its vibrant Monroe Street corridor, historic homes, and proximity to nature along Lake Wingra and the UW-Arboretum. It has a very strong community feel with a plethora of local shops and restaurants. There is easy access to the commuter path making it convenient for pedestrians, cyclists, and those commuting to the university or downtown.
Exploring the Area
You can explore Lake Wingra Loop either on foot or bike! Enjoy this 6.5-mile journey as it circles the lake and passes through some of the most beautiful neighborhoods such as the Vilas, Dudgeon-Monroe, Nakoma, Arboretum and Greenbush. Along the way you can appreciate the beauty that the City offers. You can also take a walking Tour of Dudgeon-Monroe Natural Sites such as Glenwood Children’s Park, Jens Jensen Council Ring, Plough Inn/Arbor House and Indigenous Experimental Garden to name a few.
